Best Dessert Ever

Best Dessert Ever (reprinted by permission from FROGGY BOTTOM LOUISIANA CUISINE)

1 stick butter

½ cup chopped pecans

¼ cup light brown sugar

½ gallon vanilla ice cream

1 cup flour, sifted

 

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

  1. Cream butter and sugar with fork or pastry cutter.
  2. Add flour and blend with fork.
  3. Stir in pecans.
  4. Spread very flat in 13x9-inch pan. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Remove from oven and stir.
  6. Reserve 3/4 cup of mixture for topping.
  7. Press remainder on bottom of 13x9-inch pan and let cool.
  8. Fill with 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream.
  9. Sprinkle 3/4 cup mixture on top of ice cream.
  10. Cover air tight and freeze.

Fudge Sauce:

½ cup cocoa

1 cup cream

½ stick butter

1/8 teaspoon salt

1½ cups sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

  1. Combine cocoa, sugar, butter and cream in saucepan.
  2. Stir and bring to boil. Let boil 5 minutes, while stirring.
  3. Remove from heat, add vanilla and salt.
  4. Keep fudge sauce in refrigerator until ready to serve. Cut dessert into 2 x 2-inch square, top with 1 teaspoon fudge sauce and serve.

This is truly the best dessert ever.
