With Mam Papaul's Crawfish Pie Filling and Dip Mix, making crawfish pie at home is a breeze.
Want something different - how about chicken or seafood pie - Try Mam Papaul's Crawfish Pie mix with other meats. Instead of crawfish, just substitute one pound of crab meat, 1 pound cubed catfish, 1 pound of cubed lobster, 1 pound of peeled shrimp or one pound of cubed chicken. Saute in butter or margarine before mixing with Mam Papaul's Crawfish Pie mix.
You'll need 1 pound pealed crawfish tails (or other meat), 1 stick butter or margarine, 1 1/4 cup water and 2 pie crusts (store-bought or homemade).
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Place Mam Papaul's Crawfish Pie Filling Mix, butter (or margarine) and 1 1/4 cups water in a 3 quart saucepan.
3. Stir well. Bring to a boil. Add crawfish tails (or other meat). Bring to a second boil. Lower heat and simmer 6 minutes.
4. Pour into pie shell. Invert second pie crust onto top of pie filling. Place pie in 350 degree oven. After about 10 minutes, remove pie pan from top, inverted pie crust. Continue baking approx. 35-40 minutes until crust is nicely browned.
Crawfish Pie Dip
Prepare Crawfish Pie Filling according to package directions (substitute other meats if preferred). Serve with crackers as a dip. For a richer dip, stir in up to one cup sour cream into the prepared sauce.
